Energy, (Qi), flows through the body along
specific pathways, known as meridians. Qi gathers at certain locations on
the meridians, called acupuncture points. Illness occurs when Qi is blocked
or depleted. Insertion of fine needles into appropriate acupuncture points
restores the smooth flow of Qi. The
goal of acupuncture and related therapies is to create harmony within the body by restoring the
flow of Qi. By redirecting the flow
of Qi, acupuncture can help cure disease and prevent illness.

Acupuncture is the ancient
Chinese technique of inserting needles to stimulate points on meridians
(energy pathways) of the body.

What does it feel like?
The acupuncturist uses sterile,
single-use needles that are about the thickness of a human hair. The needles
are inserted quickly under the skin, and generally cause little or no
discomfort. The sensation is like a pressure, warmth, or tingling. Most
people feel acupuncture is relaxing and have a sense of well-being. |
